Pulitzer Prizes to Photographers

Carol GuzyNikki Kahn and Ricky Carioti of The Washington Post have won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in breaking news photography for their coverage of the catastrophic Haitian earthquake. And Barbara Davidson of The Los Angeles Times has won the Pulitzer in feature photography for chronicling the victims of gang violence.

Todd Heisler of The New York Times was a finalist for his pictures of a Colombian clan that is especially susceptible to Alzheimer’s disease. Other finalists were Greg Kahn of The Naples Daily News, Daniel Berehulak andPaula Bronstein of Getty Images (who spoke with Lens last June about “Mongolia’s Unforgiving Freeze“), and Carolyn Cole of The Los Angeles Times.
